Fairbanks Parent LetterFairbanks Summer Reading Program - June, 9th 2020
What's on your mind...
One thing I really like about Fairbanks Middle School is that the staff is great. Whenever I need something or need help, they are always there. The staff does an astounding job keeping the campus safe by keeping harmful stuff off of the campus. Another thing I like about Fairbanks Middle School is the Principal! The Principal is always helpful to the students when they need help. She always gives out some special incentive for the people that do everything they need to do in school. Sometimes even she will use her own money for the students! I like Fairbanks Middle School and proud to be here.

One thing that I enjoy at Fairbanks Middle School is that we don’t exactly have an issue with bullying. The students are fairly nice and are happy to share with each other. Another thing I like about Fairbanks is the classes that we have; I like how we have a different class for every subject rather than like a Math and Reading teacher together as I have heard of that about other schools. Fairbanks Middle School is a really good place to be: the students are nice, the staff is very kind. Overall, it’s just a really good school.

One thing I really like about Fairbanks Middle School is the Drama Club. I like this because of the atmosphere the club maintains and the way the teachers in charge of the club split up the work and interact with the students. There is really no pressure to audition for roles. They also help the actors get into character.

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
As we move forward into what can only be described as the “most unusual” year in education in our lifetimes, I want to congratulate you on being or becoming a part of the most supportive, community focused, and academically rigorous school district that I’ve had the honor of being involved with.
Morenci School District and Fairbanks Middle School have a long and rich history of partnering with parents, the community and the many businesses, both small and large, that make up Greenlee County. Through these partnerships, Fairbanks Middle School has been blessed with the ability to offer students opportunities through a variety of clubs, athletics, extra-curricular activities and trips to fascinating places throughout Arizona, Colorado, and even the country of Japan!
The support, generosity and partnerships with Freeport McMoran, Greenlee County, Morenci Fire, Clifton Fire, Greenlee County Sheriff Department, Clifton Police Department, Eastern Arizona College, ASU and NAU allow Fairbanks students to see, do, go to, and experience their world far beyond the confines of a traditional classroom. The continued support of these organizations and others combined with the support and encouragement of Dr. David Woodall, the MUSD Superintendent, is truly amazing and what makes all of these opportunities possible for that which we treasure most, our children!
Though I am new to Morenci, it was the strong sense of community and pride that I felt when visiting that compelled me to become a Wildcat. Even as the schools were all closed down due to the pandemic, the bonds between the schools and the community were blindingly evident. It is this rich sense of community, loyalty, and partnership that I intend to continue and strengthen as we return to the 2020-2021 school year.
Fairbanks students have daily access to technology through our one-to-one Chromebook program. Safety and accountability are ensured through our use of Content Keeper, our Internet filter, and GoGuardian, our classroom monitoring software. While students today are no strangers to technology, we believe in limiting their access to personal devices during instructional time. To accomplish this, we will continue limiting our students’ access to cell phones during classroom time to ensure that they are physically and mentally present and engaged in instruction.
Enrollment in Morenci schools is an investment in our future. The students of today will become the world leaders of tomorrow. The vision, rigor, and relationships that your child has access to in Morenci schools is designed to purposely create positive, productive, and caring members of our community.
I encourage you to visit our campuses, speak with our teachers and staff, and ask questions. My office is always open and I’ll gladly address any questions or concerns that you might have. While this year is sure to be challenging as we reopen to face-to-face learning, in my experience, Morenci Schools are truly among the best prepared schools for the challenges that lie ahead.
Through a variety of learning options, platforms, and experiences, we will honor the long, rich history, diversity, and commitment to excellence that Fairbanks has embraced for over 50 years.
On behalf of Dr. Woodall, myself and the amazing teachers and staff of Fairbanks Middle School, I welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year.
Mr. Brian Haag Principal
