Tomorrow, December 7, is an Early Release day and Fairbanks is using it as an opportunity for our students to participate in various Teen Talks. School and community leaders will give 30-minute presentations to address some of the issues impacting our youth, as well as our community. Intro to Carpentry and Athletic Development students are to report to Fairbanks and meet in the gym for 1st period attendance.

The Soccer game scheduled for tomorrow December 6, 2022 has been moved due to transportation issues for the visiting team. The game will now be played on January 5, 2023.
Morenci Junior High Lady Cats Basketball will be hosting their 1st annual Jingle Ball Game on December, 8th 2022, as they take on the Pima Roughriders.
Our 7th grade girls will play at 4 o’clock and 8th grade girls will play at 5 o’clock.
The entry fee for the game will be either 1 can of food or one unwrapped toy, 5 and under are free. All the donations will go to the Lions Club who will then distribute these goods to families in the community.

Midshipman Jadah Cortez (MHS class of 2020) spoke to Mr. Gonzales's US History classes on 11/29. She gave a great presentation that included her personal journey from Morenci to Annapolis.

Today is a great day to highlight one of our MHS Cat Academy enrichment classes. Mr. David Gonzales is teaching his students the value of learning chess. Chess helps to improve critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills. We hope our students enjoy the game for many years to come!

Making it to the state championship is not an easy feat. It takes hours, weeks, months, and years to prepare for this. This is an example of championship character - courage, compassion, perseverance, belief in oneself and the team, sacrifice, integrity, and respect - it’s a dedication and trust to the process the coaches prep every week.
Saturday's 2A Championship Game will be talked about for a long time. While it didn’t end the way we hoped - Morenci is beaming with pride. To our athletes, thank you for giving your heart and soul to the game. To Coach Garcia and the MHS Coaching Staff - you are difference makers - influencing student-athletes on and off the field. To the Wildcat community - thank you for the support each game. You helped to create an atmosphere of positive energy - showing Arizona what football in a rural community is all about.

It’s a GREAT day to be a Wildcat! We are incredibly proud of our MHS football team. Competing in the 2A State Championship against a neighboring school is an experience of a lifetime for our student-athletes, school, and community. As fans, we have a huge impact on the atmosphere. Positive energy is contagious and sets the tone for a fantastic game.
