Happy Friday! Our toddlers enjoyed some fun at the park this morning. Everyone have a great Friday & enjoy your weekend!

In a time-honored tradition, the student body has the privilege of hearing our band in the hallways of MHS. Joined by the flagline and cheers, it is a great start to our day! Please join us tonight as our football team takes the field at 7 pm.

Our Morenci School District app has been live for about two months. We thought it would be fun to share the app download numbers with you. As of today there have been 442 downloads from the Apple store and 184 downloads from the Google Play store. Come on Android users, are you going to let Apple users win? Please continue spreading the word about our app!

The issue with cellphone users not being able to call into some of our phone lines has been resolved. You are now able to call Metcalf Elementary School (928-865-7290), Morenci Early Leaning Center (928-865-7274), and our Cafeteria (928-865-7219). We appreciate your patience and are grateful for VTC and AT&T for working so hard to get this issue resolved.

We love our bus drivers. They conducted bus evacuation drills and spoke to students about safety on buses.

Our student section was Hawaiian themed and rocked it against Scottsdale Christian Academy on Friday, 8/19! This week's theme against Tanque Verde is "Frat Boy"- dress preppy.

We are loving our new app and hope you are too! Being able to check the time for tonight's game while eating dinner is so convenient! Good luck Wildcats!

Thanks to new shade structures on our patio, MHS students can enjoy lunch outdoors.

The Varsity Football game scheduled this Friday 8-19-22 Vs. Scottsdale Christian at 7:00 pm has been changed to 5:00 pm. Please come out to support your Wildcats!!!!!

Fairbanks Families:

Today is a great day to learn something new at Morenci Early Learning Center.

Good Morning Wildcats. Our high school sports schedules are now available on our website and app. Please come support our Wildcats.

Some of our youngest Wildcats had their first full week of Kindergarten this week! These little ones have been with us at the Wildkitten Den since they were infants! ❤

Morenci High School had a very unique, but great start to the new school year! Classrooms are being reconstructed and temporary accommodations have been set up for our displaced teachers. From having to postpone the start of school and working through construction, we appreciate the flexibility of our staff, teachers, students, and parents. Special thanks to Deputy Monjaras for training our students on A.L.I.C.E lockdown procedures, FMI and Brightview for letting us borrow tables in a pinch, Tim Williams and his crew for building our makeshift classrooms in the MPR, and Morenci Fire Department for making our Senior Breakfast amazing! We appreciate and love our community!!
Please note, MHS will resume a normal schedule on Monday, August 8th.

Morenci High School first bell is at 7:55 a.m. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. Lunch is from 11:55 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Afternoon classes begin at 12:45 p.m. The school day ends at 3:15 p.m. Don Goodman MHS Principal

Just a note to let the community know that Monday, August 8th, we will resume high school classes on our regular schedule. Cleanup from the flooding at the high school is complete. All affected areas have been tested for mold and bacteria and have been declared safe. Most of the carpeting that was soaked has been removed, and furniture has been put back. Classes will be back in regular classrooms except for a block of rooms where remediation will begin. The remediation process will take 2-3 weeks. At that point, those teachers will move back into their classrooms and the remediation crews will move to the second black of rooms. This will continue until all affected areas are done.
Our students have been AWESOME these first few half days, and we all look forward to things getting back to normal.

As we finally get the high school students rolling I want to give a HUGE shout out and THANK YOU to all who arrived on-scene the night of the epic rainstorm when the high school was flooded. It was a testament to the great community we have when so many people, who have no direct connection to the school, showed up and pitched in. Many of you came just because you knew help was needed. I believe the effort prevented much more serious damage, which has allowed us to make some adjustments in our schedule and not delay the start of school too long.
Thank you all for being a part of our Wildcat Family! There is no place like Morenci... anywhere!
