Good Morning Wildcats. Our high school sports schedules are now available on our website and app. Please come support our Wildcats.
Some of our youngest Wildcats had their first full week of Kindergarten this week! These little ones have been with us at the Wildkitten Den since they were infants! ❤
Morenci High School had a very unique, but great start to the new school year! Classrooms are being reconstructed and temporary accommodations have been set up for our displaced teachers. From having to postpone the start of school and working through construction, we appreciate the flexibility of our staff, teachers, students, and parents. Special thanks to Deputy Monjaras for training our students on A.L.I.C.E lockdown procedures, FMI and Brightview for letting us borrow tables in a pinch, Tim Williams and his crew for building our makeshift classrooms in the MPR, and Morenci Fire Department for making our Senior Breakfast amazing! We appreciate and love our community!!
Please note, MHS will resume a normal schedule on Monday, August 8th.
Morenci High School first bell is at 7:55 a.m. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. Lunch is from 11:55 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Afternoon classes begin at 12:45 p.m. The school day ends at 3:15 p.m. Don Goodman MHS Principal
Just a note to let the community know that Monday, August 8th, we will resume high school classes on our regular schedule. Cleanup from the flooding at the high school is complete. All affected areas have been tested for mold and bacteria and have been declared safe. Most of the carpeting that was soaked has been removed, and furniture has been put back. Classes will be back in regular classrooms except for a block of rooms where remediation will begin. The remediation process will take 2-3 weeks. At that point, those teachers will move back into their classrooms and the remediation crews will move to the second black of rooms. This will continue until all affected areas are done.
Our students have been AWESOME these first few half days, and we all look forward to things getting back to normal.
As we finally get the high school students rolling I want to give a HUGE shout out and THANK YOU to all who arrived on-scene the night of the epic rainstorm when the high school was flooded. It was a testament to the great community we have when so many people, who have no direct connection to the school, showed up and pitched in. Many of you came just because you knew help was needed. I believe the effort prevented much more serious damage, which has allowed us to make some adjustments in our schedule and not delay the start of school too long.
Thank you all for being a part of our Wildcat Family! There is no place like Morenci... anywhere!

One of Morenci School District’s favorite times of the year is welcoming staff at our Back-to-School Assembly. The smiles on each face say it all. It’s a great day to be a Wildcat! #wearemorenci

Earlier this morning we became aware of an issue with cellphone users not being able to call our lines ending with the last four digits beginning with 72. This impacts the Metcalf Elementary School line (928-865-7290), Morenci Early Learning Center (928-865-7274), and the Cafeteria line (928-865-7219). Verizon and VTC have been looking into the issue. If you need to reach Metcalf Elementary School, Morenci Early Learning Center, or the Cafeteria please call our District office at (928) 865-2081. They will transfer you. We will put out an update as soon as we have more information. Thank you!
Metcalf Elementary School and Fairbanks Middle School families,

Our July and August lunch menu has just been uploaded to our new app! I don’t know about you, but I love this feature!
Would there be any interest if we added the food options that are available in the Morenci High School MPR? Let us know below!
Dear Wildcat Families, Unfortunately, we are still working through the water damage at Morenci High School. Several dehumidifiers and fans have been brought to speed up the drying process. Morenci High School will not start until Wednesday, August 3. Fairbanks Middle and Metcalf Elementary schools will begin on Thursday, July 28. Again, thank you for your support as we work through this situation. - Jennifer Morales MUSD Superintendent
