Hello Wildcat Welders!
I hope you are all enjoying your spring break. I wanted to let you know that, as we discussed in class, the certification material is loaded on Schoology in the SMAW Material or GMAW Material folder. The PDFs are for reference, and the Kami assignments are included as well. Please be sure to do the reading from your NC3 accounts.
If you would like the assessment, just let me know, or we can wait until we return. Some of the Kami work will need to be done in the shop, so I will inform you about shop hours during the week.
Putting in an hour of work will put you ahead and give you more shop time to complete those labs. We are on a downhill stroke now, and the last 9 weeks will go by quickly!

Due to rainfall predictions the following changes have been made to MHS athletics today:
Varsity baseball scheduled at Santa Cruz has been canceled. This game is in the process of being rescheduled.
Tennis matches at home with Willcox have been moved to April 21st at 3:00.
Counselor's Corner: Hello Senior parents. All of the local scholarship applications have been distributed to the Seniors. They are due back to Mr. Garcia on April 3rd. If your student did not pick up a packet of local scholarship applications or has misplaced it. Please come by Mr. Garcia's office to get another packet of local scholarship applications.
Come out and support our softball teams! Today, our junior high softball team plays against Duncan at 4:30. Tomorrow, our MHS Ladycats play against Pima at 2:00 and 4:00. The concession stand will be open for both events.

Announcement regarding Lions' Tournament Schedule:
Game 4, Morenci vs Mogollon, originally scheduled at 4:00 pm will be moved to 5:00 pm due to weather.
The University of Arizona "School of Mining and Mineral Resources" gave a presentation on "Careers and Degrees in Mining" on January 28th and March 6th to Mrs. Cortez's science classes. The presentation and engaging hands-on activities provided information to students about the diverse career opportunities and degree paths available in the mining industry. The students enjoyed the presentation and had a fun day processing minerals from rocks.
MHS FCCLA students attended the State Leadership Conference this week, showcasing their skill, dedication, and sportsmanship while representing Morenci.
Their hard work earned them some impressive results:

FMS Parents: You will receive phone calls tomorrow, February 22nd, between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM regarding any unexcused tardies your child had this past week. Signed paper notifications will be sent home with students on Monday afternoon. This is a one-time change; the regular notification schedule will resume next Friday.

Fairbanks Middle School recognized students and staff for the month of February at the school board meeting. Congratulations to Lily Towle - 5th Grade, Avionna Mendoza - 6th Grade, Cyndle Garcia - 7th Grade, Sky Turner - 8th Grade and Damian Paz - Specials. Staff recognitions include Leticia Laborin and Ruben Aguallo. Ms. Letti is always warm and ready to help in any way she can. She is a hard worker and dedicated to making sure FMS looks amazing each day. Mr. Aguallo is always willing to go above and beyond for what he thinks is right no matter what it takes. He is caring, smart and one of the strongest people we know. We admire his love for education!
At the school board meeting Morenci High School recognized the Staffulty and students of the month for February. Congratulations to Aaliyah Monjaras, Jason Cabrera, Christopher Cordova, Summer Luster and Angel Flores-Martinez. Congratulations to Linda Alvillar voted Staffulty of the month by her students and peers. She is the definition of a lifelong learner and an inspiration to all! She is awesome and always so willing to help all students. We are appreciative and very grateful to have her at MHS.
